Summary

The market dialogue concerns the organisation and supervision of market trading at Mikkeli’s Hallitustori, the pedestrian street and Maaherrankatu, as well as the market squares in Anttola, Haukivuori, Ristiina and Suomenniemi. The future service would cover traditional market trading and comparable temporary sales, exhibition and presentation activities, including the organisation and supervision of markets and events. The market supervisor would be required to work on site, organise daily activities, advise and place market operators, collect market fees using a payment terminal, and monitor cleanliness, safety, maintenance and service requests. The work would mainly take place during the summer season from 1 May to 31 October, during busy periods and occasionally on public holidays and Sundays. The normal working time would be six days per week, 2.5 hours per day, or 15 hours per week; market Saturdays would generally require on-call availability from 6:00 to 10:00. During winter, daily on-site presence would not be continuously required, but one inspection visit per day and telephone standby would be needed. The estimated workload is approximately 600–700 hours per year, but the city does not guarantee any number of hours. The planned contract period is 1 January 2027 to 31 December 2028, with a separately exercisable one-year option.
