Sign Language Interpreting and Translation Services for the Government

Summary

The procurement covers Finnish Sign Language and Finland-Swedish Sign Language interpreting and translation services for the Government, ministries and the Office of the Chancellor of Justice. Services are needed mainly from Finnish or Swedish into sign language and, where required, from sign language into Finnish or Swedish. The procurement has eight lots: interpreting at press events, translations for government communications, and other interpreting and translation needs of ministries and the Office of the Chancellor of Justice. Bids may be submitted for one or more lots. A framework agreement will be established for each lot, with selected providers ranked in order of priority. The contract will run for 24 months, with two possible one-year options; it is expected to start on 1 November 2026. The estimated total value across all languages is approximately EUR 100,000 per year. The lots have specific interpreter staffing requirements: Lot 1 requires 4–6 named interpreters; Lot 2 requires at least one interpreter able to work in person at events in the Helsinki metropolitan area, with an optional remote interpreter, and at least four different interpreters across the selected providers; Lot 5 requires 2–6 interpreters, including at least two able to work in person in the Helsinki metropolitan area; Lot 6 requires at least one interpreter able to work in person, with an optional remote interpreter, and at least four different interpreters across the selected providers.
