Winter road maintenance services in Biržai city and district

Summary

The tender covers winter maintenance of roads, streets and parking areas in Biržai city and its surrounding area. Services include snow ploughing and removal, anti-icing with salt or a sand-salt mixture and, where needed, roughening icy gravel roads. Work is carried out on routes designated by the contracting authority and according to weather conditions; payment is based on services actually performed. The estimated quantities for Biržai city over 36 months include, among other items, 24,000 km of single passes on paved streets with salt spreading, 500 km of snow clearance on gravel roads, 600,000 m² of parking-area clearance, 20,000,000 m² of sand-salt spreading, 9,000,000 m² of salt spreading, 8,700,000 m² of roughening iced gravel roads and 100,000 m³ of snow removal and transport. These are estimates: the contracting authority is not obliged to order the full quantities and may vary them by up to 10%. The contractor must provide suitable snow-clearing vehicles and spreaders, as well as the materials needed for the work. In Biržai city, snow clearance must start no later than one hour after snowfall or drifting begins; the first route must be completed within three hours where weather permits. In the Pabiržė area, at least two vehicles or tractors of at least 90 kW, each fitted with a blade at least 2.5 m wide, are required; in an emergency call-out, the contractor must arrive within one hour.
