Building design: operating suite expansion and 16 intermediate care beds
Summary
The tender concerns building design services for the DRK Kliniken Berlin Westend hospital: extending the central operating suite by two operating rooms, creating a 16-bed intermediate care unit, and adapting operating rooms to medical IT requirements. The project is Part 3 of the hospital structure fund programme, and the services cover HOAI Section 34 work stages 2–8. The work is in an existing hospital that must remain operational. It also includes documenting existing conditions, preparing detailed needs and space plans, developing cost and schedule information, and preparing documents required for budget approval. The design must take heritage protection into account and be coordinated with the building-services planners and project management. The project has a gross cost framework of EUR 25,530,000, including 10% for contingencies; the design fee must be offered as a lump sum. Services will be performed mainly at the Westend hospital, with monitoring of removal works also required at the Mitte site. The bid must be submitted electronically in German by 16 October 2026. The contract is not divided into lots, and variant bids are not permitted. Participation requires the prescribed applicant form, proof of professional indemnity insurance, the award-criteria matrix and the European Single Procurement Document. Detailed minimum suitability standards are specified in the applicant form in the tender documents.
