Textile care services
Summary
The contracting authority seeks one contractor to supply, launder and manage the return flow of flat linen used for ambulance services. Items include sheets, bedspreads, tea towels, hand towels and baby blankets. The planned framework agreement is for two years, with three extension options of two years each, for a maximum total term of eight years. The contractor must deliver clean, dry, folded, ready-to-use textiles to designated locations and arrange the collection and laundering of used items. Deliveries must follow the order schedule, and a 24/7 emergency telephone number is required for exceptional needs. The award criteria assess the return-flow arrangements (40%), textile test results (40%) and price (20%). The bid must include the required qualification and compliance documents and evidence of prior experience in healthcare and delivering to multiple locations for one client. Required documents include quality, environmental and laundry-hygiene certifications and a protocol for handling contaminated laundry. During performance, the contractor must meet the specified textile dimensions, cleanliness, fragrance-free, collection, packaging and delivery-schedule requirements; at least 30% of the gas used in the washing process must be renewable. Environmental and quality certifications are also required for products and detergents, as is fulfilment of a social-return obligation of at least 5%.
