Research and innovation project “The future of physical work in NS train maintenance”

Summary

The tender concerns a multi-year research and innovation programme to make physically demanding mechanic work in NS train maintenance more sustainable for the future. The work includes analysis, co-creation, solution design and prototyping, pilots, impact measurement, evaluation, scaling up and knowledge retention. The initial focus is on difficult and physically demanding tasks at the Leidschendam maintenance facility. In addition to conducting research, the partner must help NS develop a repeatable innovation approach that it can later apply at other maintenance locations. The aims are to reduce physical strain, improve job satisfaction and sustainable employability, and increase productivity. The estimated total value is EUR 6,000,000. This is an open procedure, with tenders assessed on the basis of the best price-quality ratio. Tenders must be submitted electronically by 4 November 2026 at 10:00. No tender guarantee is required.
