Service for the collection, rescue and transportation of shearwaters on Tenerife during the 2026–2027 campaigns

Summary

The tender concerns the collection, rescue and transportation service for shearwaters on Tenerife during the campaigns for 2026 and 2027. The service is part of the Cabildo Insular de Tenerife project Conservation of wildlife, habitat improvement and invasive species control and covers incident response, locating, collection, handling, transport and delivery to deposit points within the campaign framework. The aim is to minimize mortality of seabirds, especially juvenile Sooty Shearwaters, which can be disoriented by artificial lighting or other hazards during nest abandonment. The service will be organized with six staff arranged into three two-person teams; two teams operate daily from 9:00 to 16:00, while a third team is on rest. Ten days of afternoon/night reinforcement (19:00–02:00) will be activated as needed. Coordination with La Tahonilla wildlife rescue center and Gesplan, as well as training and safety requirements, will be ensured.
