Faunal Survey of Wind Energy and Acceleration Areas

Summary

The District of Northeim is commissioning a faunal survey of potential onshore wind energy areas, covering birds and bats. The work includes nest-site mapping and review of existing data for approximately 15 potential areas covering about 750 hectares, assessment of the areas’ ecological suitability, and identification of sensitive areas and mitigation rules for potential acceleration areas. The commission also includes planning-procedure support and reports, maps and GIS-compatible data through the regional planning amendment process, expected to conclude in 2032.
