Virtual 3D reconstruction of the Erkenbert ruins
Summary
The procurement is for a research-based virtual 3D reconstruction of Frankenthal’s former Augustinian Canons’ monastery, now the Erkenbert ruins. The work includes creating exterior and interior models, including the scriptorium, based on historical texts and images, the surviving ruins and the 2007 film. The authority does not have the original files for that film, and the scriptorium depiction in it is protected by copyright. The contractor must also produce nine 360-degree panoramas with informational hotspots and a 10–15-minute educational film in 16:9 format, including a storyboard, camera plan, narration and audio. Deliverables must be suitable for web use: panoramas as JPG files (8000 × 8000 pixels, 8K or 16K) and the film as MP4/H.264, Full HD 1920 × 1080. Bidders must provide their methodology and references, a schedule and a fee proposal broken down by the three work areas. The price must not exceed €27,800 including VAT or €23,360 excluding VAT; price accounts for 20% of the evaluation and document quality for 80%. Work starts after contract award and must be completed by 31 March 2027. The encrypted electronic bid must be submitted through the procurement platform by 10:00 on 29 October 2026. The fee must include an unlimited licence for the city to use the work in all respects, and the contractor is responsible for obtaining rights to third-party materials used.
