Market consultation: Processing and identification of biological samples for water-status monitoring
Summary
Finland’s Licensing and Supervisory Authority is conducting a market consultation for the processing and taxonomic identification of biological samples collected for water-status monitoring. The planned scope covers seven sample groups: diatoms, lake and coastal phytoplankton, and benthic invertebrates from streams, lake shores, lake depths and coastal soft bottoms. The projected 2026 volumes total 2,450 samples; annual averages across the groups total about 2,538 samples. The work is expected to be divided into sample-type and geographical packages, with a possible separate competition for plankton samples and benthic samples; the contemplated contract period is one year in 2027, with an option for 2028.
