Vaasa fairway geotechnical investigations 2026

Summary

The procurement concerns geotechnical investigations in the Vaasa 9.0-metre fairway and the Port of Vaasa area to provide data for the construction design of fairway deepening. The work includes cone and dynamic probing, drilling-machine investigations, soil and sediment sampling, and laboratory testing. The investigations must be carried out from a work barge supported by at least three legs and capable of supporting itself at an approximate depth of 18 metres; the maximum investigation depth is approximately 16 metres in the N2000 system. The work will determine the location of the bedrock surface, boundaries between soil layers, soil types and their dredgeability. Sediment sampling and part of the analyses must be completed in autumn 2026, with the remaining work completed no later than spring 2027.
