River restoration and effluent quality improvement at Montornès del Vallès

Summary

The tender covers works to restore the middle reach of the Besòs River and create a diffuse post-treatment system for effluent from the Montornès del Vallès wastewater treatment plant, improving water quality and river-ecosystem resilience in Montornès del Vallès, Martorelles and Montmeló. It is divided into three lots: (1) civil engineering, including a distribution chamber, electrical and control works, and channel construction; (2) river restoration and nature-based engineering, removal of non-native vegetation and installation of bioremediation features; and (3) three years of maintenance, including invasive-vegetation and sediment control, replacement planting and watering, upkeep of fences and signs, and maintenance of bioremediation structures. Lots 1 and 2 must be coordinated, and the treatment plant must remain operational during the works; planting requires a one-month establishment period. Lot 1 lasts 11 months, Lot 2 lasts 12 months, and the 36-month maintenance lot starts after the construction works are complete.
