Radiological protection services for a bone densitometer

Summary

The contract covers radiological protection services for a bone densitometer used for research and teaching at the University of Castilla-La Mancha’s Faculty of Nursing in Cuenca. The provider must prepare, implement and update the radiation protection programme; classify areas and provide signage; classify operating staff, check their credentials and review their occupational doses annually. The work also includes equipment quality checks and radiological monitoring in workplaces and publicly accessible adjoining areas at least annually, and whenever normal working conditions change or an irregularity affecting radiological protection is detected. The provider must issue installation conformity certificates and monitoring reports, record and retain monitoring results, establish procedures for responding to radiation-dose limit exceedances, submit periodic reports to the nuclear safety authority, audit compliance with radiological protection rules, prepare the radiodiagnostic quality assurance programme, and verify and certify proper operation after repairs to the X-ray equipment. Monitoring of personal dosimeters is excluded. The services will be performed at the Melchor Cano building of the Faculty of Nursing in Cuenca. The initial contract term is 12 months, with annual extensions permitted for up to a further three years, for a maximum total term of four years. The estimated value is EUR 1,344 excluding VAT; the maximum price for the initial term is EUR 336 excluding VAT, or EUR 406.56 including VAT. Price is the sole award criterion, and the lowest-priced compliant bid will be selected. Payment is made once per year after acceptance of the work and submission of the relevant reports. The contractor must perform the services itself; subcontracting is prohibited. To participate, the company must hold a valid radiation protection unit authorisation issued by Spain’s Nuclear Safety Council and provide evidence of its scope.
