Tender detail
Canteen operation at the GeoCenter Hannover
Summary
The tender seeks an operator for the canteen at the GeoCenter Hannover. The selected operator will run the canteen in its own name, at its own expense and commercial risk; no minimum revenue is guaranteed. The contract will run for five years, with a unilateral option for the contracting authority to extend it by one year. The operator must provide breakfast and lunch, café and snack sales, and catering for conferences and events. Lunch should follow a varied weekly menu, normally offering three different menus each day, with a vegetarian or vegan main course regularly available. A daily salad buffet is also required. The kitchen can provide up to 500 meals per day, and serving GeoCenter employees takes priority. Larger events may require catering for up to approximately 300 people. The canteen is restricted to the centre’s employees, employees of its member institutions and their guests; alcohol and tobacco products may not be sold or served. Vending machines may be operated as an additional service. Regular opening hours are 8:00–14:00 Monday to Thursday and 8:00–13:00 on Fridays. At least one lunch option each day must meet the DGE quality standard for workplace catering. Allergens and additives must be declared, and food safety and hygiene rules must be followed. The operator is responsible for cleaning the canteen, kitchen, storage areas and dining areas, and for washing used dishes. The contracting authority provides the premises, furniture and basic equipment for use at no charge. Catering outside the premises requires prior approval, and a current contribution of €0.69 is payable for each meal supplied to an external customer. The lunch-menu price accounts for 70% of the evaluation. Food selection and menu variety, breakfast and additional services, and the operating, hygiene and staffing plans each account for 10%. Bidders must demonstrate experience operating catering facilities of a comparable size and submit the required qualification, insurance and other documents. Offers must be submitted electronically in German by 4 November 2026. Only one main offer is allowed, and alternative offers are not accepted.
