Geesthacht Weir Major Rehabilitation: Ordnance and Ground Investigations for the Loading and Assembly Area

Summary

The Waterways New Construction Office Hannover is procuring unexploded-ordnance investigation and, where required, clearance, together with geotechnical ground investigations for the loading and assembly area on the lock island at the Geesthacht weir. The work includes land and underwater surveys, including approximately 2,600 m² of land survey using passive magnetometry, 7,800 m² using TDEM, and two deep surveys to 4 m. Ground investigations comprise 4 land boreholes to 20 m, 10 underwater boreholes to 12 m, 5 land and 4 underwater cone penetration tests to 20 m, and 16 shallow land boreholes; the works also include a permanent groundwater monitoring well, surveying, water sampling and laboratory analysis.
