U2 track renewal between Zoologischer Garten and Deutsche Oper, track 2
Summary
The tender concerns renewal of track 2 on Berlin’s U2 underground line between Zoologischer Garten and Deutsche Oper stations, together with replacement of the conductor rail on track 1. The works include renewing 1,019 m of running rail and 140 m of guard rail, installing 775 wooden sleepers, removing about 760 tonnes of old ballast and placing new ballast, as well as welding, surveying, track alignment and tamping. A second tamping pass must be carried out approximately one year later. The main works are scheduled for 24 January to 12 March 2027 during night service interruptions, generally from 22:30 to 03:30 between Sunday/Monday and Thursday/Friday. The second tamping pass is to take place during normal night service interruptions, approximately one year after the construction works. Bidders must provide references demonstrating experience in underground track work, conductor-rail work and welding, as well as proof of Class 2 qualification for rail welding. The bid must also include a preliminary work schedule and the required bid forms. Price accounts for 100% of the award decision, and alternative bids are not permitted. The bid must be submitted electronically by 28 October 2026 at 12:00.
