Traction electricity supply with imbalance responsibility for 2027

Summary

The tender covers the supply of traction electricity to the Slovak Railways’ consumption points from 1 January to 31 December 2027. The supplier must ensure electricity supply, distribution and related regulated services and charges, and assume full responsibility for imbalance at all consumption points. The contract also includes accepting surplus electricity generated through regenerative braking by rail vehicles and not consumed at the time of generation; the estimated surplus is up to 8,000 MWh. The core supply includes a 24 MW annual base load, totalling 210,240 MWh, while the remaining required volume will be purchased at short-term spot-market prices. The bid must state the supplier’s electricity purchasing fee in euros per MWh, excluding VAT, to three decimal places; this fee must cover the costs associated with supply and imbalance responsibility specified in the tender documents. Price is the sole award criterion, and the bid with the lowest fee will win. The estimated contract value is EUR 80,672,208. A bid guarantee of EUR 400,000 is required and may be provided as a cash deposit, bank guarantee or guarantee insurance. Bids must be submitted electronically by 10:00 on 28 October 2026. If a group of suppliers is selected, it must submit the required agreement before signing the contract, including provisions on the members’ liability and division of work.
