Design and build works to increase capacity at Connolly Station

Summary

The tender concerns design and build works to increase capacity at Connolly Station. The contractor must develop the reference design into detailed design approved for construction and deliver a new entrance from Preston Street, a passenger concourse in the historic undercroft, and lifts, escalators and stairs giving access to platforms 5, 6 and 7. The works also include additional emergency escape routes, public-realm improvements, retail and station support spaces, heritage refurbishment, structural alterations, and installation or modification of railway and station systems. The contractor will carry out the works, test and commission them, provide as-built and handover documentation, and act as Project Supervisor for the Construction Stage. Work will take place in a live operational station, requiring management of passenger circulation, railway access, construction phasing, safety, stakeholder engagement, heritage requirements and interfaces with other DART+ contracts. The estimated contract value is EUR 34 million and the planned duration is 42 months. This is a pre-qualification procedure: applications must be submitted electronically by 12:00 on 20 November 2026, and requests for additional information are due by 12:00 on 6 November 2026. Only pre-qualified applicants will be invited to tender. The anticipated contract form is the NEC4 Engineering and Construction Contract, Option C.
