Services for mapping marine habitats and biocenoses in Madeira’s territorial waters

Summary

The contract is for 16 months of specialist services to map marine habitats and biocenoses along the southern coast of Madeira, down to a depth of 150 metres. The work includes planning the methodology and field campaigns, collecting bathymetric and acoustic backscatter data, obtaining georeferenced seabed video and photographs and environmental measurements, analysing and classifying habitats, and producing final maps and a reusable database. Geophysical data must cover at least 90% of both study areas, and the seabed terrain models must have a minimum horizontal resolution of 5 m. Final outputs must classify habitats at least to EUNIS level 3 and, where the data allow, to levels 4 or 5; raw and processed data, open-format GIS spatial data and metadata must also be delivered. The estimated contract ceiling is EUR 89,150 excluding VAT. Price accounts for 60% of the award score, while the team’s experience and technical capacity account for 40%, assessed through equally weighted subcriteria for experience and relevant publications. The bidder must submit its price, a description of its technical capacity and work arrangements, a schedule, and details of the team, CVs and a list of relevant scientific and technical publications. Bids must be submitted electronically by 13 October 2026 at 23:59 and remain valid for 90 days. No tender guarantee is required, and variant bids are not permitted.
