Maintenance of Perimeter Strips and Green Areas for Wildfire Prevention

Summary

The contract covers maintenance of Palafrugell’s municipal wildfire-prevention perimeter strips, green areas and interior plots, together with tree felling and pruning when needed. The work includes selective undergrowth clearance and chipping, tree pruning, removal of hazardous or dead trees, handling forestry residues, and cleaning work areas and, where necessary, public roads. Maintenance covers 34.74 hectares of perimeter strips and 38.17 hectares of green areas and interior plots. The contract lasts four years, with each annual maintenance phase to be completed within a maximum of eight weeks. Work must meet fire-prevention specifications, including limits on shrub cover, tree spacing and pruning; work must stop when the competent authority suspends it because of fire risk. Bidders must provide a team of at least five people: three operatives, a foreman and a technical manager, as well as the machinery needed for forestry work. The estimated total value is €145,358.49 excluding VAT, and the maximum budget including 21% VAT is €175,883.77; the amount of special tree work depends on actual needs. Bids are assessed on price and technical and environmental added value. Subcontracting is not permitted.
