Research project: Conditions for commissioning driverless trams

Summary

The Eisenbahn-Bundesamt is commissioning a research project to establish a framework for approving driverless trams for operation without requiring case-by-case exemptions based on separate proof of equivalent safety. The study will examine the technical, functional, safety and operational requirements for commissioning a complete tram system or individual system components, and the appropriate regulatory level for those requirements.
