Tender detail
Forest road restoration in Birkenfeld
Summary
The tender covers the major restoration of two forest roads in the Birkenfeld forestry district, awarded in separate lots. Lot 1 concerns the 360 m “unteres Mettholz” road: the road profile must be restored and a drainage ditch, three 9 m² infiltration basins, reinforced water-diversion dips and drainage ditches constructed. Lot 2 concerns the 1,100 m “In der Heimbach” road: the road profile must be restored, a ditch, six infiltration trenches and one 5 m-wide infiltration trench, six 9 m² infiltration basins, silt traps, three reinforced water-diversion dips and a culvert constructed. The documents give conflicting culvert specifications: the priced work description refers to a 6 m Aquatube 400, while the technical specification describes a 9 m PE-HD pipe with a 600 mm internal diameter. The discrepancy should be clarified in the tender documents. The works are intended to improve road drainage and increase infiltration and water retention in the forest. The works are to be carried out from 15 February to 15 May 2027, subject to suitable soil moisture. Bids must be submitted by 12:00 on 7 December 2026 and remain valid until 10 January 2027. Evaluation and award are carried out separately for each lot, with the lowest-priced bid selected for each. Bids must price every item in each lot tendered and be submitted in German and in euros and cents. Work and materials relating to forest water retention must be invoiced separately, by 20 May 2027 at the latest. Payment is made after proper completion and acceptance; advance payments are not available. Bidders must use the contracting authority’s forms, meet the technical and material requirements, and provide the required declarations and evidence.
