Lift system renewal at the Jena institute

Summary

The Max Planck Institute for Biogeochemistry is procuring the dismantling of the existing goods and passenger lift in its building in Jena and the supply and installation of a replacement in the existing concrete shaft. The new machine-room-less rope lift must retain the existing dimensions, cabin fittings and load parameters, have a capacity of 1,250–1,600 kg (17–21 people), travel at 1.0 m/s and serve five stops. The work includes reusing and connecting the existing shaft smoke-extraction system, testing it with the new lift, commissioning the lift and handing over the completed installation. The contract also covers lift maintenance, repairs and fault response, 24-hour emergency-call handling and passenger rescue. Work is expected to take place from the fourth quarter of 2026 to the first quarter of 2027. If a maintenance contract is concluded, the warranty runs for four years from commissioning. Price is the sole award criterion; variants are not permitted, but multiple main bids may be submitted. The electronic bid is due by 12:00 on 22 October 2026. Bidders must include the required completed forms, lift certification, evidence of quality and environmental management systems, and a maintenance-contract offer.
