Occupational Health Services from 2027

Summary

The procurement covers occupational health services for GSI Helmholtzzentrum für Schwerionenforschung GmbH and FAIR GmbH from 1 January 2027. The contractor will provide general and workplace-specific occupational medical care under the Occupational Safety Act and DGUV Regulation 2, including preventive and fitness examinations, laboratory tests, vaccinations and radiation-protection examinations. The services also include advice, workplace health and safety inspections, participation in return-to-work support procedures and annual reporting. There are currently about 850 radiation-protection examinations per year, with up to 100 more per year expected as the FAIR facility becomes operational. The initial contract runs until 31 December 2027. The contracting authority may extend it five times by 12 months, but the contract may not continue beyond 31 December 2032. The planned annual workload for basic care is 525 hours. The physician must attend on site at least two working days per week, specifically Mondays and Wednesdays, for at least 13 hours in total per week; on at least one day, attendance must continue until 15:00 or later. The contractor must arrange cover for the physician, provide the required medical equipment and supplies, supply the scheduling and documentation software, and ensure access to a suitable medical centre or practice no more than 20 km from GSI for examinations that cannot be carried out on campus. Medical assessments for radiation-protection examinations must be available in German and English. The bid must evidence the required physician qualifications, radiation-protection authorisation, minimum experience and relevant reference. It must also include the required insurance and other forms, together with an explanation of the bid price and service scope. Price is the only award criterion. The bid deadline is 20 October 2026 at 12:00; bids must be submitted electronically through the procurement platform.
