Aicha Levee Realignment and Flood Channel Works

Summary

The Federal Republic of Germany and the Free State of Bavaria, represented by WIGES, are procuring civil engineering works to improve flood protection in the Thundorf/Aicha polder. The works include a new Aicha levee about 2.7 km long, removal of about 1.7 km of the existing levee, a flood channel about 2.6 km long, and rerouting the Aicha 1 drainage ditch, including about 1.2 km of DN 1000 pipework and open-channel sections. The scope also includes a temporary cross-levee, access roads, landscaping and related site works; the completed flood defences are intended to provide protection against a 100-year flood.
