Upgrade of metro trains and installation of air-conditioning systems for Athens Metro Lines 2 and 3

Summary

This open international tender concerns a turnkey project for the study, upgrade, testing and commissioning of 12 six-car metro trainsets, comprising 72 vehicles operating at a nominal voltage of 750 V DC and serving Lines 2 and 3 of the Athens Metro. The trains must be delivered fully upgraded with a 25-year service life from contract completion. The contract also covers special tools, diagnostic and test equipment, a three-year operating warranty, start-up and warranty-period spare parts and consumables, technical documentation, maintenance and operating manuals, illustrated spare-parts catalogues, and training for the contracting authority’s staff. Initial-support spare parts are included as a separate component. The estimated value is EUR 109,000,000 excluding VAT: EUR 106,500,000 for the main scope and EUR 2,500,000 for initial-support spare parts. Offers may not exceed either the total budget or the individual component budgets. The submission deadline is 4 October 2026.
