Workers’ Accident Insurance 2027–2029

Summary

The tender is for workers’ accident insurance for employees of 11 constituent units of Universidade NOVA de Lisboa for 2027–2029. The policy covers employees hired under employment contracts. The contract begins on 1 January 2027, runs for 12 months and may be renewed for up to two further periods of equal length; either party must give at least 90 days’ notice to terminate. Cover must meet Portuguese statutory occupational-accident insurance requirements and automatically include travel abroad worldwide, except to countries at war. Additional cover must include overseas medical, pharmaceutical and hospital expenses, expenses arising from illness or non-occupational accidents, and repatriation with the insurer’s prior express approval. Early return transport and an escort for the insured person must also be covered. The bid must include policy terms substantiating these guarantees. The insurer must waive its right of recourse against the University for a workplace accident resulting solely from negligent failure to observe occupational health and safety rules. Premiums are variable and may be paid monthly, quarterly, semi-annually or annually without instalment charges. The estimated maximum price is EUR 1,293,192.95; price is the sole award criterion, and the successful bidder must provide a guarantee equal to 5% of the contract price. Bids must be submitted electronically in Portuguese or with a certified translation, signed using a qualified digital signature, and remain valid for 120 days.
