Storm Kristin – Rehabilitation of the roof of the Municipal Library building

Summary

The storm Kristin damaged the roof and related systems of the Municipal Library building in Marinha Grande. The contract covers the full reconstruction of the roof: removal of the existing roof layers, installation of a Marseille-type ceramic roof, new insulation and waterproofing with a subtelh fibro-bituminous layer, and incorporation of a skylight and a permanent fall-arrest safety line on the roof. Interior works include removal of the wooden ceiling and installation of new gypsum board ceilings, with replacement of perforated metal ceiling elements as needed. The aim is to restore comfort, functionality and quality of the spaces for reading, circulation and services, while protecting the library’s collection and users. The PPGRCD plan prescribes waste prevention and management for Construction and Demolition Waste, including waste characterization, sorting, temporary storage and e-GAR tracking, with explicit waste hierarchy: prevention, preparation for reuse, recycling, other valorization and disposal; it requires coordination among the main contractor and subcontractors.
