Nordhausen city wall, 14th construction phase, theatre area; restoration of the historic city wall
Summary
The Nordhausen city wall renovation in the theatre area is procured, with a total length of about 65 m. The wall height on the west side is about 3.30–5.0 m and on the east side about 2.5–3.50 m. The historic wall was built of dolomite stone with gypsum mortar. Both east and west faces will be renovated by stone replacement and pointing. The crown of the wall will be demolished and rebuilt in two stages using existing dolomite stones and new stones where needed. Parts of the wall will be reinforced with masonry anchors and hollow-injection. The scope includes: scaffolding for facade about 530 m²; earthworks at the base about 22 m³; crown demolition about 90 m³; natural stone wall crown masonry about 90 m³; crown covering about 110 m²; natural stone wall demolition about 50 m³; natural stone wall masonry about 50 m³; masonry jointing about 500 m²; masonry anchors (DU 16 mm) about 100 m; hollow-injection about 1600 kg.
