Digital Pathology Scanner Hub

Summary

The tender aims to establish a research and testing environment for digital pathology—a Scanner Hub for developing, training, validating and quality-assuring artificial-intelligence tools using scanners from different manufacturers. The procurement covers whole-slide-image scanners, calibration and quality-control materials, and the delivery, installation, calibration, commissioning and integration of the equipment with the hospital’s IT, imaging, storage and HPC infrastructure, including its aetherAI system. There are four lots: (1) the 3DHISTECH Pannoramic 480 (DX), a high-throughput scanner with capacity for up to 480 slides and mandatory water immersion; (2) the Evident SLIDEVIEW VS200, with varied imaging modes, polarisation and oil immersion; (3) two Grundium Ocus M20 desktop scanners for frozen sections, with 0.5 µm/pixel resolution, 20× magnification and Z-stacking; and (4) the Roche VENTANA DP 600, a CE-IVD scanner with capacity for 240 standard slides. Bids may cover one or more lots. Price is the sole award criterion and carries 100% weight. The bidder must submit a complete electronic bid in German, the required declarations and product certification evidence, and a completed price sheet for each lot offered. The bid must include a delivery and equipment-handling plan covering the schedule, transport, personnel and equipment, and preparation of the installation site; a lifting platform is required for unloading and moving the equipment into place. A signed commitment must confirm that, following the relevant call-off and approval of funding, the bidder can deliver, install, commission and invoice the equipment during 2026; the contracting authority must receive an auditable invoice by 11 December 2026 at the latest. Equipment must be new, and the price must cover the delivery, installation, integration, commissioning and instruction needed to hand over operational equipment. A warranty of at least 12 months from commissioning is required. Bids must meet the mandatory technical minimum requirements and include prices for the required service options. The service options provide for at least one preventive maintenance visit per year and three levels: maintenance, software updates and remote support; those services plus on-site fault repair; and, in addition, replacement of spare and wear parts. The bid must also explain infrastructure integration, information security and data protection.
