Summary

GIZ is commissioning consultancy services to support South Africa’s Department of Trade, Industry and Competition (DTIC) in developing policy and advancing bilateral trade agreements for pharmaceutical products and medical technologies. The work covers seven areas: mapping existing trade frameworks; prioritising 5–8 partner countries and product opportunities; assessing regulatory pathways, trade barriers, tariffs and logistics, pricing and procurement access; designing agreement provisions; and supporting strategic engagement and negotiations. Deliverables include country and market analyses, roadmaps, draft agreement provisions, negotiation briefs and strategic recommendations. The assignment runs from 1 January to 30 September 2027.
