Monitoring food waste in Germany

Summary

The project will monitor food waste in Germany and develop the methodology for the country’s EU reporting for 2025 and 2026. It will analyse data from the first reporting year, 2020, in relation to the EU’s 2030 reduction targets, identify improvements for future reporting, and investigate alternative methods for producing baseline data for stages 1–4, comparing them with methods used in selected EU Member States. The methodology for stage 5 will remain unchanged.
