Landsvirkjun is procuring the assessment, repair and, where approved, manufacture of diaphragms for the geothermal steam turbine at Krafla power plant. The work covers one set of 10 diaphragms, comprising 20 halves, for a 30 MW double-flow turbine with two five-stage flow paths; the diaphragms are approximately 1.7–2.3 m in diameter. The work will be carried out at the contractor’s workshop in Iceland, with transport to and from the workshop arranged by Landsvirkjun. The scope has three parts: assessment and cost proposals, approved repairs, and the possible manufacture of new diaphragms; additional new diaphragms may be ordered for up to 12 months after tenders are opened.
