Pilot project to ensure the availability of certain older antibiotics

Summary

The Swedish Public Health Agency is piloting a compensation model to maintain the availability of certain older, off-patent antibiotics for outpatient care that have particular medical value and are at risk of being withdrawn from the market. The single-lot contract is planned to run from 15 December 2026 to 31 December 2027, with an option to extend it by 12 months; annual compensation may not exceed SEK 500,000, and the estimated total contract value is SEK 3 million.
