School Catering Services 2027
Summary
The tender covers the preparation and delivery of school meals to 16 sites in Budapest’s 13th District and, when requested, to the camp on Margaret Island. The service includes three meals a day for children aged 6–14 and lunch for secondary-school students aged 14–18, with both standard and medically required dietary meals. The contract runs from 1 January 2027 to 31 December 2028 and may be extended by agreement for up to a further 24 months. Expected daily quantities for schools are 2,800 standard morning snacks, 4,000 standard lunches and 3,000 standard afternoon snacks, plus 60, 100 and 50 dietary portions respectively. For secondary schools, the quantities are 870 standard lunches and 40 dietary lunches. Actual quantities may vary by ±15%. The bidder must have the required food-safety registration, kitchen ratings no more than three years old, liability insurance with cover of at least HUF 100 million per year and HUF 30 million per claim, and the specified catering experience and specialists. The bid must include the required sample menus with ingredient and nutritional calculations. Kitchen capacity must be sufficient for the maximum quantities. During contract performance, at least 80% of the total value of procured products must come from short food supply chains or local food products. In addition to price, evaluation considers factors including delivery time from the kitchen to the service site, the frequency of whole-grain and other ingredients, and a consumer feedback system. The deadline for submitting bids is 9 October 2026 at 10:00 Central European time.
