Request for information and market dialogue: forestry felling and tree-removal services 2027–2028

Summary

The City of Mikkeli is holding a market dialogue for a planned 2027–2028 contract for forestry felling and tree-removal services; this is not yet a competition for bids. The planned services cover felling and clearing around buildings, in parks and urban forests, storm-damage clearance, and difficult removal of individual trees on private plots, streets and in parks. Work would mainly take place in Mikkeli’s central urban area and, when needed, in Anttola, Ristiina, Otava and Haukivuori. The proposed contract period is 1 January 2027 to 31 December 2028. Work is concentrated in January–April and September–December. The estimated workload is about 1,200 hours per calendar year, with approximately 400–600 m³ of timber to be felled manually at winter work sites. The planned pricing is a fixed hourly rate, excluding VAT, for the entire contract period and must include all costs; travel, tools, maintenance and travel time are not paid separately. During the summer break, the supplier must be able to respond to unexpected storm damage within 24 hours when requested by the customer. Climbing felling is not required, but offering it may earn quality points. The authority is seeking companies’ comments on the planned contract, pricing, work arrangements, cooperation and supplier-selection requirements. This is a request for information, not a contract notice or invitation to tender: bids are not being requested, and taking part in the market dialogue is neither a prerequisite for participating in the later competition nor a factor affecting a bidder’s position.
