Site preparation for the Bundestag Visitor and Information Centre

Summary

The contract covers site-preparation works in Berlin for the planned German Bundestag Visitor and Information Centre and the underground cooling centre next to the Reichstag Building. The works include setting up and fencing the site; installing three temporary flagpoles and a Christmas-tree base; relocating the Flag of Unity mast and its bronze plate; carefully removing historic granite paving and stair blocks for protected interim storage; relocating a memorial; and installing 51 metres of wastewater pipe. The small stone paving must be removed and disposed of. The contract also includes a site sign and the specified electrical connections. Bidders must submit the priced bill of quantities as a PDF and, where possible, in the required data format, together with a construction schedule. The schedule must cover the start of work preparation and site setup, and start and completion dates for the main work packages. The decisive award basis is the final gross offer total, taking unconditional discounts into account; conditional discounts will not be counted. Access to a project handbook is conditional on signing a confidentiality undertaking; breach carries a contractual penalty of EUR 20,000 for each incident.
