Acoustic assessment of noise barriers with height-dependent airborne sound insulation and heterogeneous material structures

Summary

The Federal Highway Research Institute (BASt) is commissioning a research and development project to assess noise barriers with height-dependent airborne sound insulation and/or heterogeneous material structures. The work will develop and validate assessment methods, including experimental investigations on real noise barriers, and examine how these properties can be represented in road-noise propagation calculations. The final output is to include a method for standardized assessment, formulated as a recommendation or work instruction.
