Cleaning the Books of the Krupp Library

Summary

The City of Essen is procuring the dry cleaning and conservation of approximately 47,600 books and other media from the Krupp Library collection, affected by mould contamination. The work includes cleaning the covers, edges and endpapers, and stabilising mechanical damage; about 2,400 volumes require individually fitted protective covers or fastening of loose bindings. Work will take place at Essen Central Library, with cleaning scheduled to begin in 2026 and finish by February 2027.
