Expert report on optimizing mining authority processes and ensuring risk prevention and water protection

Summary

The Ministry of Economic Affairs, Industry, Climate Action and Energy of North Rhine-Westphalia is commissioning a single expert report on improving the processes and structures of the state mining authority and strengthening flood-risk prevention and water protection at mining operations. The work will assess oversight of mining sites in flood-prone areas and the handling of externally sourced soil materials, and recommend organisational, procedural and, where necessary, regulatory improvements. The assignment includes reviewing application and permit records for at least two operations, interviewing authority staff, and presenting the findings; no lots are planned.
