Tender detail
Giebelplatz – “Space for Climate” project
Summary
The tender covers the climate-resilient redevelopment of Giebelplatz in the Margarethenhöhe district of Essen. The works include removing approximately 600 m² of sealed surface, constructing traffic and pedestrian areas and permeable parking spaces, installing an approximately 50–80 cm rainwater retention layer, connecting it to the existing sewer system, completely renewing the lighting, protecting five existing trees, planting three new trees, landscaping, planting works, street furniture and traffic management. The works must start immediately after award, and acceptance of the works and the final invoice must be completed by 31 December 2027. The tender deadline is 12 October 2026 at 10:00, and tenders must be submitted electronically. Price is the only award criterion; there are no lots and alternative tenders are not permitted. Bidders must also account for contaminated pavement and soil: part of the asphalt has been classified as hazardous waste, while the underlying material has been classified as landfill class III or a higher recycling classification.
